Who’s never dreamed to live in a small white house lost in Aegean sea!
The vision of a dried rocky mountain white spot studded marvels travellers from the porthole of their cabin.

Many trips in Greece help us to soak the essence of cycladic architecture, to feed our inspiration and add small Aegean touch inside our projects.

1/ Roundness :

The greek bricklayer is not concerned with right angle.
Traditionally cycladic houses are made of bricks. It now evolves towards full concrete skeleton.

The opening remains small to protect from the powerful sun and maintain a decent temperature inside. Finishings are made with plaster, and edges between walls, grounds and ceiling are often rounded to provide a sense of softness within the living space.

The eye follows the curve and never stops in a dead end.

2/ White Minimalism

White is definitely the color of the Cyclades. It reflects light and avert the feeling of stifling.
The bright white slightly contrasts with natural tints of blue around. We also note variation of pink and beige in southern islands.

3/ Natural Brutality

Local plants are twisted to create decoration and furnitures. Woods is very used and barely worked by local craftsmen to remain authentic and raw.

The non-finished aspect allows the Greek minimalism to differentiate with Scandinavian one. It is a place where we mainly live outside and this « brutality » gives the interior a natural dimension.

4/ Seamless Outdoor/Indoor

Strong signifier of greek architecture, the roof framework overtakes the frontage and create shady spaces outdoor that perfectly fit with the surroundings.

By the way, we see copy of this characteristic on beach ephemeral building.

Covered with straw or veil, the terrace appears as a extension of a boat and invites visitor to sail along with cocktails.

This will to feel outside whenever the year dates back to Minoan times where houses did not have windows.

Basically, the Cycladic spirit is based on white and curves management. Try raw Mediterranean minimalism to give a wild soothing touch to your interior.
